Duck Harbor Proposal

There is just something about a Cape Cod proposal that feels unreal. Barefoot on the dunes, the ocean in the background, zero fuss, and one very important question.

This proposal in Wellfleet, Massachusetts was exactly the kind of session I love photographing. He brought her out toward the water with a camera in hand, kept everything completely casual, and then surprised her right there overlooking the Cape. She said yes, obviously, and the rest was basically laughing, kissing, happy tears, and the two of them running around barefoot while I photographed it all.

My approach to proposals is always less about creating a perfectly posed moment and more about letting the actual moment happen. The wind, the movement, the slightly messy hair, the laughing right after she realizes what is happening — that is the good stuff.

I’m a Boston-based proposal and engagement photographer, but getting out of the city and onto the Cape will forever have my heart. Cape Cod gives proposal photos an entirely different feeling than Boston. Instead of brownstones and city streets, you get dunes, ocean, huge open skies, soft coastal colors, and that effortless summer-on-the-Cape look.

If you’re planning a Cape Cod proposal in Wellfleet, Provincetown, Chatham, Dennis, Orleans, Truro, or anywhere else along the Cape, I can help you figure out how to photograph the surprise while keeping everything feeling natural. I photograph proposals, engagements, elopements, and intimate love stories throughout Boston and Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

You plan the person. I’ll worry about where to stand.
